How do you know.  We don't try because people in charge are just to lazy to get off their arse and go in search of a legimate coach.  They go after these high school coaches because it is easy.

Our people are no different from the majority of other SEC programs.

It's useless to say fire Freeze. We've invested and will ride this out good or bad. I don't think Freeze is it. I don't think his recruiting is going to be as good as expected. He was an underwhelming hire that no other SEC program wanted. We approach every coaching search like "who wants to come here?" and then we hire someone no one wants...and we always get the same results.

Stop paying top money for average coaches. Stop thinking there's a secret neato offensive scheme that's going to tip the balance. We hired another Gus Malzahn. Why?

Gus and Freeze are teh absolute best we can get. Doesn't matter how much we have our house in order, it's just the truth unless UAT ever comes down.

I prefer Gator to Music City, but Citrus is my preference of all the bowls we might have a shot at.

Of course, that's purely because of perceived prestige of the bowl... plus the fact that we've not been to the Gator Bowl in half a century plays a part, too.

Mine too but we're likely out of the running for Citrus. Likely taking Ole Miss.

Scott Frost is the most obvious. I know the cupboard he inherited at UCF was in retrospect well stocked but 0-12 to 13-0 in two years is going to look good any way you slice it.

Luke technically started in 2017, but was "interim" the whole year.

Ok, Jonathan Smith at Oregon State was the ONE big success from that cycle. And Chip Kelly is still at UCLA.

Clemson, Miami, Duke, Southern Cal, UCLA, Rutgers, West Virginia, Iowa State, and Maryland all have the same record as Auburn currently. 6-4.  I think these are all among the likely opponents for Auburn in a bowl game -- unless Auburn gets lucky and upsets Bama, in which case, at 8-4 with a big signature win, Auburn would get bumped up to the next level.

The bowl needs to have an SEC tie-in and be looking at SEC teams with a mid-tier W-L record. . So that includes the Liberty Bowl, the Texas Bowl, the Music City Bowl, the Gasparilla Bowl, the Duke's Mayo Bowl, and the Birmingham Bowl.

Personally, I'd love to see Auburn play USCw or UCLA. This would be a major sell for recruiting! And the coaches would have no problem getting the team fired up for that one. I'm just not sure which bowl would host that game.

The Gasparilla Bowl and Birmingham Bowl usually end up with SEC teams that barely qualify. I think Auburn gets a better bowl than either of those.

I figure most likely -- Duke's Mayo vs Clemson, Duke or Miami (all ACC), or Music City vs Rutgers or Maryland (both Big 10), or Texas Bowl vs Iowa State or West Virginia (both Big 12).

No non-NY6 tie ins with the Pac this year, sadly. Obviously a moot point next year.

A lot of people, including some on this board were prematurely judging Saban as done. I’m just hoping Hugh can continue to build us back to sustained excellence. It’s been a minute.

FWIW, I think UW and Oregon would be better matchups for UGA than OSU or Michigan.

I would like to refer back to the grand debate of who the third opponent should be. I was told that we could handle Florida or LSU because Alabama was about to fall back to the Shula years. 🙄

(And yes, nine games will happen--by 2026 at latest, guaranteed).

    He'd be scary there.

If they were smart, they'd look at Phil Longo. Tons of ties in state from his time at SHSU and a proven offense

I'd rather Lanning be at A&M than Saban's replacement.

Anything more would’ve likely been the most since the 56-3 Arkansas win in 16. Actually… they might’ve had a 49 somewhere in that 2017 game.

We always handle Arky’s defense in that blase stadium they play in, but this was the worst of the worst

Like I said, firing Petrino has almost completely killed that program (with teh exception of 2021 and a few games in 2015).
