So this is an odd train of thought for me here. You grade the coaches based on today, then say “it’s not about today only, then say today results move them down the totem pole (based on todays results), then say “one day doesn’t define a career”, and finally leave it with a todays results have left a black mark. My opinion is that today wasn’t audition day, these guys whole career has been one frickin huge audition day and today doesn’t matter one bit in hiring our new HC.

It will be interesting to see where Freeze ends up. If he’s such a good candidate, he won’t be at Liberty after this season regardless.

Some different experiences certainly wouldn’t hurt him, but there’s value in just staying put and being more and more involved as time passes. This is a unique situation that rarely happens imo.

I’ve not seen anyone say he doesn’t have talent, he’s a tremendous athlete. I don’t think the incoming staff will want the risk of seeing if he works out or not when they have the opportunity for a plug and play portal QB. For every Malik Willis you’ll have a Joey Gatewood and a bunch of others.

I seriously wonder if we have a QB on roster that could start at any other SEC school. It’s really depressing that we could even have a debate on it really.

You said if Deion retained Caddy, hired the right coordinators, and some good recruiters we would be back. That’s your words. I simply said if you use those same parameters, then literally any competent HC would get us back to winning. It’s getting those parameters lined up correctly that is easier said than done.

Emotions aside, it would be crazy to handcuff the new hire in any way. There should be no requirements period, let the man pick his own staff completely to fulfill the needs to accomplish our goal. Now having said that, Carnell is an obvious option for any new coach to retain. We could go on and on about the reasons to keep him, just doesn’t need to be forced imo.

Same as I feel when any big time coach loses a game. It happens. Doesn’t change anything for me except to further the thought that Lane needs AU to accomplish what literally no one can at Ole Miss.
