  4. yahoo.com Rosemary Rossi 5-6 minutes Donald Trump was conspicuously missing from the memorial services attended by former presidents marking the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people on American soil – and Twitter users took note, sending “where’s trump” trending Saturday. President Joe Biden and former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton attended the main ceremony in Lower Manhattan where the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers once stood, while former president George W. Bush spoke at a memorial close to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where Biden later laid a wreath before visiting the Pentagon, where 44 people died. Lee Cochran, a spokeswoman for the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, confirmed that Trump’s people were given the same details about the ceremony but chose not to attend. “He had the option to attend but decided to honor the day with different stops,” Trump’s spokeswoman, Liz Harrington, said. Rather than attend the somber name-reading ceremony of those who perished, Trump posted a video and issued an aggressive statement. “For the great people of our country this is a very sad day,” Trump said at the start of the video shared online. “September 11 represents great sorrow for our country.” He then turned his attention to praising his lawyer Rudy Giuliani (who was the mayor of New York on the day of the 9/11 attacks) and criticizing President Biden’s troop pullout from Afghanistan. “It is also a sad time for the way our war on those that did such harm to our country ended last week, the loss of 13 great warriors and the many more who were wounded, should never have happened,” Trump said in the video. “It was caused by bad planning, incredible weakness and leaders who truly didn’t understand what was happening. This is the 20th year of this war, and should have been a year of victory and honor, and strength.” Trump repeated his denigration of Biden when he spoke at the NYPD’s 17th Precinct in East Midtown Saturday. The former president told the officers he was surprised the Afghanistan pullout hadn’t come up in other 9/11 memorial speeches. People on Twitter were about as divided about Trump being MIA from the main festivities as you might expect, with most Trump critics making fun of his plans later today on this day of national mourning – he’s providing commentary for a pay-per-view boxing match in Hollywood, Florida. “How America’s former presidents will commemorate 9/11 President Bush- Keynote speaker at Flight 93 Memorial President Obama- Ground Zero Memorial President Biden- Memorial Services at all 3 memorial sites Trump- Ringside commentary at Boxing match,” wrote one Twitter user. While another wrote: “Trump visits a police department to air grievances. Can he just be respectful for one freaking day?” Yet another pointed out that Trump once called New York City his home. “He literally has an apartment here.” yep just keep bashing biden when you guys worship the biggest idiot in politics. it is a bad look when you love trump and give him passes while attacking biden........right gramps?
  5. Penn State fans chant ‘We want Auburn’ as Nittany Lions finish off win over Ball State Adam Spencer | 13 hours ago 1-2 minutes Penn State fans are excited for this year’s team. After a win over a ranked Wisconsin team on the road last week, the Nittany Lions routed Ball State this week. Now, Penn State will turn its attention to Auburn, as the Tigers head to town next Saturday for a big nonconference matchup. Fans are clearly eager for that game. As you can hear below, in the final couple of minutes of Saturday’s game, students started chanting “We want Auburn!”: "WE WANT AUBURN" chants from the student section. I cannot wait for the White Outpic.twitter.com/1jMttrAGKI — Derek Shuman (@DerekShuman_) September 11, 2021 They’ll have to be careful what they wish for, as Auburn has looked good this year (albeit not against top-tier competition). The Tigers have outscored Akron and Alabama State by a combined score of 122-10. We’ll see if James Franklin’s team or Bryan Harsin’s squad will improve to 3-0 next weekend. this will be such a fun game.................
  6. What Bryan Harsin said after Auburn's 62-0 win vs. Alabama State By Tom Green | tgreen@al.com 15-19 minutes Auburn is now 2-0 in the Bryan Harsin era after dispatching with another overmatched opponent. No. 25 Auburn overcame a slow start in the first half before turning things on in the third quarter and shutting out Alabama State, 62-0, on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. It was the Tigers’ final tune-up before next weekend’s nonconference showdown at No. 11 Penn State. After the game, Harsin met with the media via Zoom to discuss his team’s performance. Here’s everything he had to say about the win: BRYAN HARSIN, Auburn coach Opening statement… “Good win for our guys, told them that. Every week you get a chance to go out there and play is good. To see these guys finish the game, I thought the second half we came out and did what we wanted to do, made the adjustments and we executed those in the second half. Early on, just a little bit slugging there in some areas but we responded. Overall, it was good. Scored on offense, scored on defense, scored on special teams so made big plays in all three phases. We had some individual performances that were very good today. “Overall, one thing I’d say with Alabama State, I know the score doesn’t necessarily show this, but I thought they did a very good job with their game-planning. I thought they had guys that played hard and they did some things we had to make adjustments to. So they had a good game plan early on for us. We made the adjustments. Our guys came out there and executed it. So our staff, players, it was a credit to them. It was good to see our halftime adjustment actually show up there in the second half. We had a big third quarter. But overall, probably the biggest thing that stands out from a negative standpoint is just the penalties. I think we had 10 penalties. We need to clean that up. Those are things that we can control for the most part. Then some turnovers as well. We lost one of the fumbles. We put the ball on the ground a couple of times. Those are things we need to make sure we continue to keep working on as we had into this next week. “Same rule as we had before, 24 hours the guys get to enjoy it. It’s an early game so we’ll have a chance to go relax a little bit and watch some other teams play, which will be good. Tomorrow, we’ll go correct what we had, what we needed to fix in this game and then we’ll get onto Penn State. We’ll start focusing on that and be ready to go for this next week. The goal is every week that we continue to get better in the things that we’re doing and then we focus on the most important things each and every week, which goes right back to our process and what we do Sunday through Friday. A new challenge with the Penn State game being on the road with the travel and obviously the environment. We’ll talk about that as the week goes on. “But proud of our guys. Proud of the defense. We did not allow a point. That’s hard to do. So those guys did a great job. Coach Mason and his staff, I thought had a really good plan. We were out there tackling and making plays and Roger’s interception was spectacular. He did a great job of just being ready on that particular play. “Overall, I’m happy for what our guys were able to do. Proud of our guys. Looking forward to coming back tomorrow and making these corrections and getting ready for another week.” On what Alabama State did to bother Auburn’s offense in the first half… “I think we bothered ourselves probably more than anything, but they played hard, and we felt like that too. I thought their d-line, they did some things up front, their front seven. They had some pressures in there that they were able to hit a couple of times. I think more of it really came back to us. I thought we had answers for it. We needed to maybe execute a little bit better in some of those situations. Really as we go back and watch the tape, I hope what I saw on the field is what I see on the film and those would be corrections that we all can make. But they just played hard. I thought their defense played hard. I thought they were getting to the ball, they were tackling. We had a couple of drops that really were open and probably big-play opportunities early on. “Those are the fundamentals about the game that we try and preach each and every week, and our players know that. They know what it is we need to work on. And no one goes out there and tries to drop a ball. But there’s a focus and there’s a detail to that we believe you’ve got to be able to execute that in a game situation. “So, we missed a few opportunities early, and maybe the momentum wasn’t quite there because of that. But we made some big plays; we cashed in on some opportunities that we had in the first half but just weren’t able to get to. I thought that was good from our guys. On Demetris Robertson’s three-touchdown game… “Yeah, he’s got great speed. He was able to take a little reverse and go score. I thought that was a really good run. He ran the sideline well; I believe that was Shenker out in front of him that was blocking. So we had done a good job with the boundary wide receiver; I believe it was Shenker out there, and Demetris worked off of him. He also had some opportunities in the passing game. I think he’s done a good job. He came in late, so he didn’t get the entire summer like everybody else; I think that’s important. He was able to come in and pick things up fairly quickly. He’s a really bright player and a great person; he takes care of his business — everything leading into getting him here, he was on it. “That’s what I appreciate, too; the portal allowed us to get a player like that. But he handled everything that he needed to, and he was very proactive. And that’s how he plays and prepares himself. So today we had -- he was back there as a punt returner; we had some opportunities for him in the pass game; we had the big run. So, he’s going to continue to keep getting better and better. What I love about him is that he’s got a great attitude -- he’s always positive, he’s going to fist-bump you, he’s excited for his teammates, he enjoys when we have success on the offensive side, whether it’s him or someone else. I think he really just appreciates being out there and playing good football and being a part of this team.” On Auburn’s sluggish first half… “Well, I don’t know. I wish I could answer that; I would have tried to correct it before we went out there. It was an early game. There was no -- it wasn’t about the 11 a.m. kick; we talked about that from Sunday through Friday. I think when you’re going into a game, you have to have the expectation of playing one play at a time, especially on offense, and just executing and doing your job, and not thinking about, you know, that we’re going to go out there and this first play is going to be this or that. Just execute the play. Like I said, I thought Alabama State was doing a good job; they were tackling. I thought there were some opportunities in there, the week before, where we broke some tackles; these guys tackled well. And we needed to -- we probably missed a few things in there. “There were probably a few assignment errors, and we got a little bit behind the chains. We didn’t capitalize on some plays we could have made, so, you know, it goes back to us. We handle what we need to and we take care of our business, then it just comes down to our execution. And we’re going to spend a lot of time on that during the week. What I liked was the offense came over -- maybe it wasn’t the best series -- but we made adjustments. Coaches and players were communicating; there wasn’t panic on the sideline. It was really just matter of fact on what we need to do, and we did that in the third quarter in particular. We did that from there, and we were able to run the ball and be a little bit more consistent.” On Demetris Robertson being a leader for the receivers… “Well, I think that’s part of his role being an older player. I think he needs to be an example for the younger players, and I believe that about the older players on our team, especially the ones that are on the field. “So, you know, today some of our more veteran players, there were some mistakes made by guys on this team that are veteran players, and they overcame it. But he’s a guy every week that, you know, just as far as habits go and being alert and engaged in meetings and practicing well -- like, those are the things that set examples for the younger players. If your better players go out there and they just kind of go halfway through things during the week -- like, what example does that set for everybody on this team? You know, this is your better player, he doesn’t do things full speed, that becomes the culture of your team and ultimately you see that in games and you lose games that way. “I think as far as the Penn State game goes, you know, we’ll shift gears to that. I don’t know what they did today or what’s happened. I think they played Ball State, so we’ll figure out what that game looks like. I know they played Wisconsin before, got a chance to see a little bit of that. And we’ll be onto that game, but really, it comes back to what do we have to do this week to get ourselves ready for a Tuesday practice so that we can maximize that and build off the last two weeks of preparation and just be better going into this week. “That’s always the focus, and I believe that. I think there’s going to be -- everybody wants to hit that fast-forward to Saturday and we go play Penn State, and if we skip days or we don’t take care of the things that we need to then we won’t be prepared properly. So, we’re going to aim high for each and every day. We’re going to be focused on that. You know, the older players on our team need to help with that from a mentality standpoint with the team because they should be the guys that know if you look too far ahead that’s where it gets you and if you’re not preparing properly then you’re not going to have the confidence you need to go play in a game like that.” On freshman running back Jarquez Hunter… “I knew this: when he popped on the one, no one was going to catch him. Yeah, he can go, and that was one of the things watching his high school film: when he was in the open -- and he did that in high school. He could go. He had the longest run for a freshman in school history; I believe that’s exactly what the stat was, but we gave him the game ball anyhow. “What I love about Jarquez is, you know, even in that moment in the locker room, he appreciates it. His teammates appreciate him. He’s a pretty humble guy, and I think for him it’s just a matter of, how do I continue to keep getting better? Because I think he really likes being out there on the field, and I know he loves the game of football. So you can feel that from him, and with Tank not having Shaun out there, Jarquez stepping up, Sean Jackson, you saw Jay Sharp out there as well, Jordon Ingram. All those guys were getting opportunities to carry the ball, and that’s part of making sure that as we put a team together, you’ve got to have depth on your team, and you like that depth to be competitive so that when guys get in there -- if it’s Tank getting a big run that helps our team, if it’s Jarquez getting a big play it helps our team, if it’s Sean Jackson down there on the goal line just barreling his way into the end zone. Like, all those things are key components to our team having success. “And I think coach Cadillac’s done a great job with that group of bringing them together. You know, there was one ball; that’s the thing that we’ve all got to remember. There’s one ball on the field, and everybody wants it on that side of the ball, but those guys are also supporting each other and happy for the success of their teammates, which makes a difference in the game. “But Jarquez, he’s going to keep getting better. I think these two games he’s had a chance to play in gave him really valuable experience, and then we’ll see how this week goes leading into the Penn State game.” On the team’s tackling and linebacker Zakoby McClain… “To get the goose egg on the defensive side, that was something, even last week, we had some of the starters out, and they want ... I think any time you’re on the defensive side of the ball and you have a chance to do that, everybody wants to do it, so that was a great deal for our defense today, and rewarding for those guys. I thought we tackled well. “And Zakoby in particular, he came in there. He’s got a great feel for the run game and where a back is trying to fit. He’s really almost playing tailback on the defensive side. He sees the hole. He’s able to hit it. And then he plays with great pad level. He gets a shoulder into the tackle like he should; he runs his feet; and I think there was probably some big hits that came from him and other guys from the defense. Tackling is something we work every single week. It’s a focus for our guys on the defense, and it’s something that is the main thing that we try to make sure that we come out of the game and we have really good examples of live tackling. because you don’t get to do that very much. You don’t do it in practice all week long. It’s really, at this point, it’s the games that you have a chance to go live. “So, you have to simulate that in your mind over and over, and tackling is a physical thing. So those guys getting the ball ... and that’s why you want to have multiple people on the defense to the ball. That helps you to surround that ball carrier. We felt like Alabama State, one of the things we told our guys, I really feel like the skill players on the offensive side could do some damage. They had a good plan; we just were able to get some plays in early downs and put them in long yardage situations for third down, but they had some good schemes. We did tackle well. We did get to the ball, and Zakoby was certainly a guy that was an example out there of doing that.” On Auburn’s special teams performance, which included a touchdown on a blocked FG… “We felt we had a shot of getting that. So, Coach (Bert) Watts, he was already talking about how if the other corner that’s not coming, sort of call him the touchdown corner, to be ready. So we get a block, scoop, score. Those are things, you practice that throughout the week. You create that situation at practice. You simulate it and you go through it for the moment that we had in this game. The blocked put was huge and I thought we did a good job in that area. We were creating some big plays in special teams. I was disappointed in the second half where they came out and made that play. I thought that was something that we would be ready for. That was a good job by Alabama State. They had a good scheme and made a good play in the third quarter there. “But overall, special teams, yeah, we’d like to have our best players out there. I think that’s something that this team, I hope they’ve bought into. Because you think about it, you’re gonna have 170-something plays or so in a game. And 30-plus of those are gonna happen on special teams. And if you want to be out there making a difference in a game, you want to find a way to be on special teams. I think every guy that starts on this team right now has a role on special teams. And that’s important. I think that’s important for them. We work on this every single week. Like today, big plays on special teams, create some momentum. It helps our team. Certainly that is what happened today. You create the momentum on special teams, defense and offense and everybody got rolling together, and when you have that, you have a chance to make some big plays and put up some big points and finish a game like we did.” Tom Green is an Auburn beat reporter for Alabama Media Group. 7. SNAP JUDGMENTS: Auburn 62, Alabama State 0 JackCondon 4-5 minutes Auburn took down Alabama State 62-0 today, with a slow start giving way to a raucous third quarter that contained 35 Tiger points and nearly 300 yards of offense. Maybe it was the 11 AM kickoff, maybe we were looking ahead, but no matter the rocky beginning the Tigers looked pretty solid in the end. What did the College and Mag staff see at first glance? Auburn went 1-0 today. Always a good thing to earn a shutout. Excellent effort by defense and special teams to keep Auburn out of danger zone before the half. Saturday is the first real test, though. -Josh Dub -Josh Black Had a chance for 69-0 and put in Grant Loy. Not sure if Harsin is the right man for the job. Also I still love Jarquez Hunter. -James Jones Looks like we weren’t ready for auburn’s biggest rival: 11am kickoffs. Luckily the tigers figured out how to get out of their own way and scored an absurd 35 third quarter points. There are some dudes on this team I’m excited to see play against a p5 team next week, and mostly I’m happy auburn is relatively healthy. -Son of Crow -AU Chief I went to the Pitt-Tennessee game today so I’ll keep it brief. The preseason was fun and I saw Auburn Twitter got a practice run for next week with a slow start in the first half. Preseason is over now and next week: Business Picks Up. -Will McLaughlin I couldn’t see a whole lot of this game due to watching it from the sideline, but my impressions essentially boil down to this: Auburn has some stuff to figure out heading into next week’s game against Penn State, particularly when it comes to how they’re going to move the ball when facing an opponent who can actually challenge them in the trenches. I liked the halftime adjustments from Harsin and thought the defense played well for the most part, albeit with a few lapses in the coverage. All in all, not bad. -Eamon Smith I know that it’s just Akron and Alabama State, but Auburn has begun this season by actually scoring points. Without really checking on it, I have to imagine that the Tigers will be the nation’s top scoring team in the country tomorrow morning when the dust settles. In the same vein, I bet that Auburn has the top rushing defense in the country as well. Even when you consider the competition, those are two pretty good stats to lead the land in. We know that the first quarter was tough, and the offense definitely wasn’t as crisp as it was last week overall, but other areas complemented Auburn. Special teams and defense played well to pick up the offense when they were struggling. At the very least today it was drops, or just looking sluggish, which can be expected with the morning kick and the opponent. When Bryan Harsin assuredly peeled the paint in the locker room at halftime, it worked. That third quarter was something to behold with 299 total yards and 35 points. Auburn averaged 37 yards per play during that period. Unreal. I’m going to chalk this one up to Auburn quite literally preparing zero for Alabama State and looking completely ahead to Penn State next weekend. If that’s the case, a 62-0 victory during a morning kickoff can never really be such a bad thing, and the result is still less frustrating than what we likely would’ve seen from Gus. Instead of running Tank Bigsby to death, Harsin and Mike Bobo used the backups and didn’t run the starters into the ground. Auburn will likely be more rested than Penn State next week, and they’ll need it for the first full 60 minutes of gameplay they’ll have this season (and in a wild atmosphere to boot). -Jack Condon
  8. Ten takeaways from Auburn's win against Alabama State Zac Blackerby 3 minutes Auburn beat Alabama State 62-0 on Saturday. Behind a solid rushing attack and a 35-point third quarter, the Tigers opened up the scoring in the second half. Bryan Harsin and his staff made adjustments at halftime to expand on their 20-0 lead after two quarters. The Auburn offense was not clicking early, but consistent kicks from Anders Carlson and a blocked kick returned for a touchdown allowed the points to flow in Auburn’s favor until the offense got going. It’s now time for Penn State. Before we get there, here are 10 takeaways from Auburn’s win over Alabama State. John Reed-USA TODAY Sports We all knew this, but the more Auburn fans see this guy get the rock, the more jaw-dropping his play is. John Reed-USA TODAY Sports The guy can do it all. He caught a pass, made guys miss, ran over dudes and ran it in from 94 yards out. John Reed-USA TODAY Sports Robertson had his coming-out party Saturday. He has multiple scores under his belt and has become the guy Auburn recruited him to be, Bo Nix’s No. 1 target. John Reed-USA TODAY Sports Auburn’s front seven picked up where the group left off last week against Akron. The pursuit is relentless. Auburn has allowed 43 rushing yards this season. John Reed-USA TODAY Sports Roger McCreary could have gone to the NFL but chose to stay to improve his draft stock. He did that on Saturday with his interception and return for a touchdown. John Reed-USA TODAY Sports Auburn’s offense struggled early, but Auburn kept putting points on the board thanks to a punt block and a field goal block returned for a touchdown. John Reed-USA TODAY Sports The head coach probably let his team have it at the half. Whatever he said, the players responded as Auburn scored 35 points in the third quarter. Even when the team was clicking on all cylinders, you saw him coaching guys on the sideline. John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports Great college kickers are hard to come by. Auburn fans have a special one with Anders Carlson. The offense couldn’t punch it in early and needed Carlson to capitalize on his kicks. He nailed them. John Reed-USA TODAY Sports The Tigers can’t play like that against Penn State next week or they will be in a tough spot at halftime. Numerous mental mistakes hurt Auburn early. A lot of coaching tape was made for Harsin and his staff. John Reed-USA TODAY Sports McClain had 10 tackles on Saturday. No matter what the play is, he seems to always be around the football.

  10. on 9 / 11 the responders had built in timers in their suits. if there is no movement for ten minutes it goes off in case the person was overcome by smoke or something and it helped to locate that person. after nine eleven hundreds were going off buried in the rubble and the alert beeps kept going off for days until the batteries ran down. if that does not get to you you have no pulse.
  11. lets not encourage chatty kathy..............
  12. second game and no whirly bird or prairie dog look back at the sidelines. i got so tired of that. i am sure there is some kind of benefit but if i wanted to see that i would go watch a meercat special.
  13. it's great to be an auburn tiger! i believe for the most part we are getting our monies worth out of the new coaching staff. iam gonna need a kind soul or two to send me a valium or two for the penn state game. they remind me of a yankee us. blue collar with a ton of tradition and pretty much always dangerous regardless of their talent level. they love their school and play hard for it. it is gonna be a slobber knocker!
  14. i just wish we could not keep this game so close.......lol
  15. i think the boys are looking ahead instead of taking care of business. that being said lets let the second string play............touchdown finley!
  16. states coach has a huge scowl on his face like he knows what is coming.........grins
  17. We know the facts and we already told you we already know the facts and do not want more drama because of the facts of covid because arguments pop up and it derails the thread. but i learned long ago you do not give a damn about anyone but yourself on this board. what part of that do you not understand? of course you do this crap on purpose and then deflect or act innocent. you think you are being cute but you are acting like a fool. i am surprised you have not been given a time out yet. do you even bring anything positive to the board. have you donated to help the board? do you post articles concerning auburn for the benefit of the board? no you bring chaos and disruption. it gets real old. there is nothing cute about you acting like a fool. and trust me when i say it is more than just a couple of folks. so bring on your cute litttle rebuttal because i will not turn this thread into a running argument but do not be surprised when you suddenly cannot post anymore. the mods have warned you nicely repeatedly.
  18. i get mad and show my behind but at the end of the day i can talk to anyone that is civil and i have time to cool off. what i hate is when someone disagrees with you and wants to call you stupid and then his posse shows up to pile on. there is just no need for it. it is like we are not pulling for the same team.
  19. there is a park at the bottom of the hill on east glenn. it had swings and some baseball fields. there was an old creosote log bridge{really small} and my grandfather taught me to run across the bridge because a troll lived under it and if i was too slow it would get me. lol i met tucker fredrickson as well thinking of going out for a baseball team. i sucked and he actually spent extra time with me.. and the wreck tech parades? the football players dressed up like women and wearing wigs and a ton of folks in pajamas. it was the most fun you could have for free other than that dang tuba player that snuck up on me and blasted his horn in my ear. sometimes i sit and wonder if gold dressed up like a woman and did the parade............lol
  20. Alabama State at Auburn by the numbers By Mark Inabinett | minabinett@al.com 5-6 minutes Alabama State (1-0) at No. 25 Auburn (1-0) 11 a.m. CDT Saturday (SEC Network) Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn 1 Previous meeting between Alabama State and Auburn – a 63-9 victory for the Tigers on Sept. 8, 2018. 1 Game was needed by coach Bryan Harsin to move Auburn into the AP Poll’s Top 25.
