  1. si.com Hugh Freeze believes evaluating Auburn's QB room is hard because 'they truthfully did not have a lot of protection' in 2022 Lance Dawe 2–3 minutes Auburn football has completely reshaped their offensive line for 2023. After putting together one of the worst offensive lines the Tigers have seen this century, new Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has been determined since day one to overhaul the position in order to bring some consistency back to Auburn's trenches. In an interview with Zac Blackerby of the Locked On Auburn podcast at the Senior Bowl, Freeze said it was one of his biggest priorities when he got hired. "Well, that was the place that you had to try to get fixed first," Freeze said. "I don't know that - when I turned on the film, I don't know that the quarterbacks are getting a fair evaluation, because they truthfully did not have a lot of protection." In 2022, Auburn's offensive line finished 12th in the SEC in sacks allowed per game and was 105th nationally in sacks per game vs ranked opponents. The line was porous, to put it gently. Whether it was Finley, Ashford, or even Geriner in his few snaps vs Missouri - the Tigers just couldn't hold things together up front. Now that Freeze has retooled things across the board, the Tigers should expect to have an improved product in the trenches this upcoming season. "You had to get that somewhat fixed - have we? I don't know," Freeze said. "I know we improved ourselves, but I think the 2024 and 2025 classes are going to be really vital for whether we succeed or not."
  2. COLUMN | Welcome to the Freeze - The Auburn Plainsman 4–6 minutes There’s a new sense of excitement for football on the campus of Auburn University. On Oct. 31, 2022 (ironically Halloween and Nick Saban’s birthday), Auburn announced that Bryan Harsin was fired from leading the Auburn football program. For many students, if not all, there was a sigh of relief. Fast forward to Nov. 28, 2022, Hugh Freeze, a former coach at Ole Miss and Liberty, was announced as Auburn’s 31st head football coach. Freeze takes over a program that has a new multi-million dollar football facility, an NIL collective that is healthy and ready to give and one of the most supportive fanbases in all of collegiate athletics. This all sounds great, however, Freeze inherits a program that needs a new identity and has a combined 17-19 record in the last three seasons. On his first full day on the job, Freeze hit the recruiting trail and the transfer portal hard. Auburn was ranked at the bottom in the recruiting rankings, while rivals Alabama, Georgia and LSU were at the top in the conference and the nation. From south Florida to the heart of Texas, the new Auburn coaching staff was on the road putting in the hard work to fill the holes of a depleted roster. Early signing day arrives, and Freeze pulls together a top 20 recruiting class and a top 10 transfer portal class. Just incredible! Freeze gets it. As he led 9,121+ fans in a roaring “War Eagle” chant in Neville Arena during the Arkansas basketball game, he knows what it takes to be at Auburn. From President Chris Roberts to Director of Athletics John Cohen, all is in the proper balance to put Auburn in a position to reclaim its spot back with the prestigious programs in college football. When A-Day arrives in April, I expect students and fans of all backgrounds to be packed in Jordan-Hare Stadium to witness the dawn of a new era of Auburn football. The Freeze era is a complete night and day compared to the previous administration. It is going to take more than one recruiting class to fully get back on track. Freeze’s first Junior Day was another step upward. Over 200 high school recruits from across the South gathered in the Woltosz Football Performance Center this past Saturday and saw a glimpse of the future of Auburn football — a future that could very well include them. Many of the high schoolers left that day with Auburn as one of their top schools to choose and I would dare to say that I expect some of them to commit to Auburn sooner rather than later. The offseason is fun again. Folks have a newfound pride in Auburn football. Is this what Auburn needed two years ago, which was the last time the Tigers were looking for a head coach? I can only imagine where the Tigers would be if Freeze was the man back then. While the season awaits in the fall of 2023, signs of the offseason are pointing in the right direction. We all know that at Auburn, the impossible becomes possible, so I most definitely will not count this team out by no means necessary. Could another “Miracle in Jordan-Hare” be on the horizon? Beware of the Auburn Tigers, but until then let’s all sit back, relax, and “just watch.” Freeze said it best: “I believe in work, hard work, which it will take. I believe in the spirit of being unafraid. I don’t fear much in life, and I don’t think our team will either. I believe in the people. It’s the Auburn Family. This place is special, and there’s no other place that I want to be. I believe in Auburn and love it. War Eagle!” Do you like this story? 3. Hugh Freeze wants to rebuild Auburn’s offensive line play Published: Feb. 01, 2023, 12:22 p.m. 2–3 minutes Auburn football coach Hugh Freeze speaks to the media at Senior Bowl By Nubyjas Wilborn | nwilborn@al.com Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze didn’t mince words on Tuesday when talking to reporters in Mobile during the Senior Bowl about last season’s disappointing pass protection. “When I watch the tapes from last year,” Freeze told reporters. “I’m not sure if any of the quarterbacks had a fair chance sometimes. They didn’t get protected very well, and that starts up front.” Freeze addressed the problem by aggressively recruiting in the portal. He signed Gunnar Britton (Western Kentucky), Dillion Wade (Tulsa), Avery Jones (East Carolina), and junior college lineman Izavion Miller during the first open window. Read More Auburn Football: Hugh Freeze is excited about coaching Auburn’s current quarterbacks How Auburn is retooling its defense through the transfer portal Hugh Freeze makes it a dozen transfers added, signs SEC linebacker Wade was the third-ranked offensive tackle in the portal. He comes to the Plains with two years of eligibility and started every game for Tulsa last season. He also played under current Auburn offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery when Montgomery was the Tulsa head coach. Jones was the highest-rated available center, and Britton was the sixth-rated offensive tackle. Miller was one of the best JUCO linemen. Signing four potential starters on the offensive line is an impressive feat necessary for the Tigers’ hopes to reestablish themselves as a viable contender. Auburn had seven offensive linemen on scholarship when Freeze arrived as the head coach. He likes to carry 16 linemen and wants to sign one more during the open period following spring football. “I have a certain belief in roster management and how to build a roster. I thought we got a really good mixture of young kids that we signed in high school,” Freeze said. We had some that were mid-year enrollees. And obviously, the portal guys who have played a lot of football, you depend on them to play. No one gets a starting job, but you don’t recruit those guys to sit around, for sure.” If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
  4. Jeremiah Cobb has signed with the Auburn Tigers Lance Dawe ~3 minutes Jeremiah Cobb officially made himself a Tiger by signing his letter of intent to play football at Auburn. Cobb was a massive get for the Tigers when they landed him back on July 1st. He has track star speed and has been clocked running the 100-meter dash in a lighting quick 11.13 seconds. Cobb is from Montgomery, where he attended Montgomery Catholic Prep. He put up video game numbers during his time in high school. With Tank Bigsby heading to the NFL, Cobb could jump right into touches for the Tigers as he will mix in with Jarquez Hunter and Damari Alston. This may be the most intriguing pickup of Auburn's 2023 recruiting class. Cobb was a monster at Montgomery Catholic High School, posting insane stats and displaying a well-rounded skill set. 247Sports noted in their analysis that "not one physical trait that stands out among the rest but (Cobb) possesses a well-rounded skill set and has a good feel for the position." And a good feel he has. There have been several comps thrown out for Cobb, and one many recruiting experts come back to is Alvin Kamara, given his ability to catch passes out of the backfield and turn anything into a big gain. There's not a particular area of weakness in his game (outside of the fact that he's still raw, as any high school talent), which is great news for the Tigers, who would expect him to take over the starting role as early as 2024 if Jarquez Hunter were to declare for the NFL Draft. Cobb has some serious potential to become a great weapon in Hugh Freeze's offense. *Career carries - 639 *Career yards - 6,567 *Career rushing touchdowns - 75 *Career YPC - 10.3 *Career receiving yards - 1,142 *Career receiving touchdowns - 15 *Career YPC (receiving) - 22.8 (!) *All of these career numbers are his high school stats over the course of 50 games.
  5. Season Preview: Auburn Baseball’s top returning hitters from 2022 season Taylor Jones ~3 minutes The Auburn Tigers are set to open the 2023 season on Friday, Feb. 17 against Indiana at Plainsman Park. While we count down the days, here’s a brief look at what to expect this season. The first chapter of Auburn Wire’s baseball season previews will take a look at Auburn’s returning hitters from last season’s College World Series roster. Auburn returns plenty of contributors to last season’s lineup and will see a lot of new faces at the plate as well. However, the caliber of bats that have since moved on to the professional ranks leaves a few questions for Auburn to answer. The biggest void on this season’s roster is Sonny DiChiara, who was drafted 148th overall by the Los Angeles Angels and was immediately delegated to Double-A Rocket City. In his lone season on the Plains, DiChiara smashed 22 home runs and was responsible for 59 RBI. Auburn will also be without Blake Rambusch, Brooks Carlson, and Brody Moore, who finished the season in the top-five of batting average last season behind DiChiara. There are some familiar faces, however, who will return to the Auburn lineup this season including Bobby Peirce, Cam hill, Cole Foster, and Kason Howell, who all hit over .250 last season. Here’s a look at the top returning bats to Auburn’s roster ahead of the 2023 season, based on last season’s batting average. 6. The SEC’s most underrated transfer currently resides on Auburn’s roster Taylor Jones ~2 minutes Auburn Football currently holds the nation’s No. 4 ranked transfer portal class, trailing only LSU, USC, and Florida State, and leading Colorado, which has had an impressive haul as well. Out of the 12 commitments that Auburn has received from the transfer portal, Auburn fans are excited about the boost to the offensive line that Avery Jones, Dillion Wade, and Gunner Britton bring to the table, as well as the added help that Brian Battie, DeMario Tolan, and Justin Rogers can provide to their respective positions. While all six of the aforementioned names are worthy of respect, there is one addition in particular that is not receiving the recognition that he deserves. Mosiah Nasili-Kite, the former Maryland defensive lineman who has recorded 43 total tackles and 9.5 sacks over two seasons at Maryland, has been named the SEC’s most underrated transfer according to MikeFarrellSports.com. Writer Matt Perkins says that Nasili-Kite is like a swiss army knife that can be used in many ways. Hugh Freeze has done a solid job putting together a strong transfer class, especially on the defensive line. The Maryland transfer isn’t the biggest name that Auburn is bringing in, but he’s a versatile piece that can be used on any down and distance. The SEC currently has six teams in the top 20 of 247Sports’ transfer rankings. Ole Miss, Florida, Kentucky, and Arkansas join Auburn and LSU as those with impressive transfer portal additions. this should lessen the worry on the D line a little bit.
  7. Auburn basketball lands 5-star point guard Tahaad Pettiford Updated: Feb. 01, 2023, 2:30 p.m.|Published: Feb. 01, 2023, 2:27 p.m. ~3 minutes Tahaad Pettiford (0) of Hudson Catholic tries to score against Josh Ingram (24) of St, Joseph during the Heart 2 Hands Showcase boys basketball game between Hudson Catholic and St. Joseph (Met.) Roselle, NJ on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Scott Faytok | For NJ Advance Media By Nick Alvarez | nalvarez@al.com Tahaad Pettiford will be an Auburn Tiger. The five-star point guard from Jersey City, New Jersey announced his commitment on Tuesday afternoon, picking the Tigers from his seven finalists. He’s the second member of Bruce Pearl’s 2024 class, joining four-star center Peyton Marshall. He’s a 5-foot-11, 160-pounder ranked 22nd on the 247Sports Composite and No. 2 point guard in his class. His other contenders were Seton Hall, Ole Miss, Kansas, Kentucky, Connecticut and UCLA. “I’ll be starting my next chapter at Auburn University,” Pettiford announced from Hudson (N.J.) Catholic on the 247Sports Youtube channel. Pettiford, who visited the Plains on an official visit on Sept. 17, credited that trip as part of his decision, citing the campus as a “second home.” It’s the second year in a row that Auburn has earned a commitment from one of the country’s top point guards. California’s Aden Holloway signed his letter of intent for the class of 2023 in November. Pettiford had surgery two months ago to repair a torn meniscus. He hopes to rejoin his high school team later this season in the playoffs. When healthy, Pettiford showcased his skills as a solid dribbler with good vision and elite shooting. The lefty would pair well with another blue-chip guard Labaron Philon. The Baker point guard is ranked 41st nationally and has the Tigers among his finalists. Philon is announcing on Friday and is predicted to join Pettiford and Marshall on the Plains. The trio would give Auburn the No. 3 class in the 247Sports Composite team rankings and best in the SEC. 10. Trump in Even More Legal Hot Water After Lying to Judge Jose Pagliery 4–5 minutes Photo by Win McNamee/Getty Images Former President Donald Trump appears to have lied in sworn court records, opening him up to severe sanctions by a New York judge who has already lost his patience and threatened to punish him before. Trump claimed he wasn’t the president of the Trump Organization during his four years at the White House, despite previously testifying that he was an “inactive president.” And he claimed that he didn’t have a financial stake in a partnership with the real estate company Vornado, even though he previously testified that he did. On Tuesday, the New York Attorney General’s Office asked Justice Arthur F. Engoron to intervene quickly to ensure that the former president still faces a trial later this year that could bankrupt his company. New York AG Letitia James sued the Trump family and their real estate empire for at least $250 million last year, the end result of a three-year investigation that documented how the Trumps have routinely faked property values to score better bank loans and cheat taxes. The civil lawsuit threatens to yank the company’s credentials, seize its bank accounts, and choke off its access to any banks in New York City—the global finance capital. Judge Blasts Trump Org Lawyers for Delay Tactics The Trumps, desperate to avoid the collapse of their company, initially tried to disqualify the AG and stop her from accessing company records. But when Judge Engoron threatened to sanction lawyers for incessantly making “frivolous” legal arguments, the Trumps last week were finally forced to answer James’ lawsuit with actual defenses. The result was a legal document that read like a joke, with Trump attorney Alina Habba going as far as claiming there is formally no such thing as the “Trump Organization’—a ridiculous position, given that it’s a billion-dollar company Trump used to build his reputation over decades. On Tuesday, the AG’s office called her out on that too, noting that in November she began a court hearing before this very judge by introducing herself as an attorney for that company. “Good morning, Your Honor. Alina Habba for Trump Organization, Donald Trump, et cetera,” she said on Nov. 22 in a New York City courtroom. The AG’s office also pointed out how Trump, in a separate case involving how his security guards beat up protesters in Manhattan, testified behind closed doors that while at the White House he “was an inactive president and now I’m active again.” The testimony shows that he remained atop the Trump Organization. Judge Orders Trump to Pay Up for Missing Evidence “Was there a period of time that you were not the president of the Trump Organization?” asked the protester’s lawyer, Benjamin Dictor. “Well, I wasn’t active during the time I was at 1600,” Trump said, referring to the White House address. “I would say that I was an inactive president and now I’m active again.” By contrast, in court documents last week, Trump swore that he “specifically denies the definition of ‘Trump Organization’” and “each and every allegation” that he was ever the inactive president of the company during four years in public office. At the bottom of the 300-page document, Trump signed his name using his usual thick, black marker beneath an affirmation that says his list of responses “is true to the best of [his] own current knowledge.” Lying in court documents is a red line that could result in hefty fines and serious blowback in court. In Tuesday’s filing, the lawyer at the AG’s office leading the case asked the judge to drag the Trumps into court again to punish them for pulling the stunt—and to not give them a second chance. “The Court has already admonished defendants and their counsel for their continued invocation of meritless legal claims but exercised its discretion in not imposing such sanctions, ‘having made its point.’ It does not appear that this point was taken, however, and [AG’s office] would ask the court to renew the issue,” attorney Kevin Wallace wrote. 11. and you have every right to do so.
  12. i have three rescues and they keep me from traveling but god i love them so much! one was so abused if you pick her up she will potty all over you from being scared. when i think of what must have been done i get livid!. but dogs are pampered. they eat steak tho not as much lately. they get treats at least twice a day and they love cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets. they love fried chicken livers from popeye's as well but they got a bit pricey. i treat my dogs like gold...........hell when they get nervous i sing to them. and they reward me with so much love.
  13. i say yes period. i would feel the same if he was a lefty. what say yee?
  14. it started with the hippies. i remember those four kids in ohio and so many people talked more about them have lice or the crabs. my memory is fuzzy but it happened for a fact.
  15. i am all for it. i am not above bribing either lol
  16. i agree on texas A&M but i also have some faith that jimbo will mess them up like he did FSU. i have heard there are problems in the locker room and reports of players smoking that evil green lettuce which makes me assume they are already going downhill.
  17. when i say improve i mean tank i feel was held back some from line play? this is why i mention the better part. but i have heard that our kid signing on signing day is a monster and he looks good on tape.
  18. i saw a couple of the new generation address being lazy on reddit. they basically said they do not like working for less than a livable wage when the upperclass is sucking the value out of too many jobs for their own enrichment. i tend to believe this as well. we have some that do it right but not many.
  19. so guys what can we do to raise the IQ of our pols and make sure we are putting people in office that actually want to help the country? i am talking on the fed level here. one is if you lie to get your position like the latest idiot this first one is very important. in the fed civilian work force you can be terminated immediately for lying on your job application. this was installed for a reason and politicians get off scott free. i mean this crap of electing some dummy like herschel is demeaning and dumbs down the government. if you have any kind of criminal record like domestic abuse or other violent crimes you should not be allowed to run for office. i mean do we want thieves and liars handling the work of the government? theft should be a disqualifier. swhy elect someone to the gov that steals? i think anyone that runs for office should be able to pass a basic test on the constitution and governing in general instead of just jumping in their and turning the gov into a side show or being so incompetent they disrupt our governing body. we should always have our best and brightest in office. always. what yall got?
