  4. 247sports.com UAH forward Chaney Johnson is a Tiger: 'Auburn is the place for me' Jason Caldwell ~3 minutes Chaney Johnson is going up a level, but he's not going far. The former UAH stretch-four announced his commitment to Auburn during a visit. Johnson played high school basketball at Thompson (Ala.) and is originally from Alabaster, Alabama. The biggest change for Johnson is going to be changing his rooting interest. Growing up an Alabama fan in a family that is filled with Auburn fans that live just up 280 from Auburn in Alexander City, he said it's definitely going to be something he'll have to get used to but he's ready for the opportunity on the Plains. "Coach (Bruce) Pearl tried to get me to say War Eagle and I couldn't say it, even after I committed," Johnson said. "I'll get used to it eventually." Playing D-II basketball at UAH, Johnson was named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Year and has been dominant at UAH. This past season, Johnson averaged 15.9 points and upped his rebounding to 6.6 per game while making 75.9 percent of his free throw attempts. A 37 percent shooter from three-point range in his career, Johnson is very capable of playing multiple spots in Auburn's system and he can't wait. One of the reasons he's so excited is because of what it means to his family. "I feel like Auburn is the place for me," he said. "It means a lot being a lot closer to my family and being a lot closer to my grandma in Alexander City. Going to school at UAH, I'm coming from the North to the South. To come see my grandma was a three and a half hour drive. Now I'm closer to be able to see her. I'm closer to a lot of my family and a lot of them on my mom's side are big Auburn fans." Williams has one year of eligibility remaining and Johnson is expected to slot in behind him, replacing the role of former 5-star Yohan Traore who entered the portal. Johnson is listed at 6-foot-7 and 208 pounds, capable of playing as a stretch-four or a bigger three, if needed. Johnson is Auburn's second transfer portal addition, joining former FIU guard Denver Jones, who is expected to slot in as the starting shooting guard. 34COMMENTS The new Auburn addition has two years of eligibility remaining and he said he's ready to get to work. "I'm working on all aspects of my game," Johnson said. "I feel like I'm a decently balanced basketball player. I can do everything well, but I don't specialize in anything. It's just finding things that Coach Pearl and coach Steven Pearl think I need to work on. Just trying up all my skills." ">247Sports

  8. Hugh Freeze contract released: How much will Auburn football coach make? Richard Silva, Montgomery Advertiser 3–4 minutes Auburn football coach Hugh Freeze will make $6.5 million during his first year leading the Tigers, with that annual compensation rising by $250,000 every Feb. 1 due to a retention bonus starting in 2024, according to his contract obtained by the USA TODAY Network through an open records request. If Freeze is fired without cause, his buyout is 75% of the remaining payments he would have accrued. Freeze, who agreed to be Auburn's next football coach Nov. 28 on a deal set to run through Jan. 31, 2029, has numerous incentives in his contract. If he were to hit every qualifier, he could make an extra $3.3 million. Those incentives include $150,000 per conference win beginning with the fifth conference victory every season, meaning he could earn an extra $600,000 each season for going undefeated in the current scheduling format that features eight matchups versus SEC foes. LOOKING AHEAD: Predicting Auburn football's starters for 2023 after Hugh Freeze's first spring practice UPGRADING: Pat Dye Field renovations to occur after 2023 football season BRIAN BATTIE: Father of Auburn football RB describes son's progress despite injury Freeze can also make $200,000 for an appearance in the SEC Championship Game and $400,000 for winning it, though those amounts are not cumulative. Similarly, he'll earn an extra $50,000 for reaching a non-SEC Group of 6 bowl game and $150,000 for winning it. If he were to lead the Tigers to a New Year's Six Bowl appearance, he'd get $200,000, but receive $250,000 for winning it. The loftiest incentives include $750,000 for getting into a College Football Playoff semifinal game and $1 million for making an appearance in the national championship. He'd receive $2 million for winning a national title. Freeze can also earn $75,000 if he's named the SEC Coach of the Year and an additional $75,000 if he is tabbed as the Bryant, Camp, AP, AFCA, ESPN, Eddie Robinson, Bobby Dodd, Sporting News or Maxwell Coach of the Year. Pending Jim Harbaugh's new deal at Michigan, Freeze's contract will be either the second- or third-most incentive-laden deal for an FBS public-school football coach. Arizona State's Kenny Dillingham has a maximum bonus of just under $5.3 million. Freeze can also earn extra compensation if his team earns an Academic Progress Rate of .930-.949 ($25,000), .950-.974 ($50,000) or .975-.999 ($100,000). If the Tigers received an APR of 1.000, he'd get an additional $150,000. These incentives, like the aforementioned ones for on-field success, are not cumulative. USA TODAY Sports Project Reporter Steve Berkowitz contributed to this report. Richard Silva is the Auburn athletics beat writer for the Montgomery Advertiser. 9. i trust your opinion on this for the record. i think of you as our aufam golf pro.................... What Makes This New Tee The Most Sought-After Golf Gear of 2023? Sponsored by FlightPath John | March 03, 2023 Tests show it can help increase your drive distance and reduce sidespin — plus, it’s nearly indestructible. Why aren’t you using it yet? Gimmicky products have been part of golf since… well, as long as the game has existed. Maybe you’ve heard: “Watch this video and putt like the pros!” Or, “get this magical driver and instantly add 50 yards to your drive!” Anybody with their head connected to their shoulders can tell that they’re selling a load of B.S. But that’s exactly where the new FlightPath Tee sets itself apart. In a refreshing twist, FlightPath doesn’t make fake, overblown promises — it’s actually proven to up your golf game. No, you won’t become Jack Nicklaus overnight… but you can expect a big enough improvement that you (and your buddies) will notice the difference right away. No wonder thousands of golfers have started using them already, with everyone from amateurs to pros and even the 2018 Long Drive Champion endorsing FlightPath as the “future of golf tees”. Take Robert — one of our readers who recently started using FlightPath — for example… The Day Robert’s Golf Game Changed For The Better Robert had been hitting the links for years, and he loved being out on the fairway… But there was one thing that bothered him beyond belief. Robert couldn’t drive the ball quite as far, or shoot quite as straight as his friends did. “I’m a pretty decent golfer. But the guys I golfed with were always slightly ahead of me… “I wanted to improve, but my business was growing and I didn't have the leisure time I needed to improve my game. Being a competitive guy, that infuriated me… “Recently I noticed my buddy started teeing off an odd-shaped tee… and his drives were noticeably longer and straighter that day. I asked him what he was using, and he showed me the FlightPath website… so I ordered a pack. “I used my FlightPath tees last weekend, and I couldn’t believe it — I was able to take two strokes off my game, and I’m sure FlightPath made the difference. There were multiple shots that went significantly straighter and further than I expected, making my shots on the green easier. “I’m starting to feel my competitive juices flow, and I’m gunning for my buddy Don now — I think I’ll have him whipped by the end of the summer. “This tee is the difference between putting from the green instead of chipping out of the bunker. It’s an advantage I’ll take — why the heck not?!” How FlightPath Tees Use Advanced Physics To Instantly Improve Your Long Game Robert’s not the only one who’s become a believer — thousands of people, including professionals like Maurice Allen (2018 Long Drive Champion), have switched to FlightPath. Why? Because FlightPath knocks the socks off of old-school wooden tees! Normal wooden tees can have a negative impact on your golf game, and a quick physics lesson shows us why. When you hit the ball with a driver or an iron, the ball spins backward, which shortens the ball’s distance. Likewise, the ball’s spinning motion creates friction on the tee, so the ball is launched with a huge potential for sidespin…ending in a crooked shot. The result is a shorter, less accurate drive. And spending hours “perfecting” your swing or getting a spendy new “miracle” driver won’t correct the problem — not when your TEE is preventing you from reaching your full potential! FlightPath’s angled launch platform is precisely engineered at a 10 degree drop, which helps reduce ball spin and unlock your potential for accuracy. The cradle that holds the ball is also engineered to reduce friction, which lowers the chance of sidespin and makes you more capable of driving straight down the fairway. See? Simple physics. FlightPath doesn’t promise gimmicky, night-and-day changes to your golf game. It just removes the obstacles that you typically face, and allows your true game to shine through. So, while wooden tees rob you of that extra 5-10 yards, or cost you that extra stroke on the putting green… FlightPath simply clears the way for your best possible drive! Enjoy Longer Drives With FlightPath FlightPath doesn’t claim to make you drive like Mike Austin… but who wants to drive the ball past the flag and onto the next hole anyway? No, FlightPath’s passion is helping you unleash your potential. They did the math so that you don’t have to — simply place your ball on a FlightPath tee, and you’ll immediately enjoy less backspin, better ball height, and further distance… without expensive gadgets or gimmicky training videos. Zero hours at the driving range, no time cross training, and no special stretches needed. It may sound like cheating, but it’s not — FlightPath tees conform to USGA rules, so they’re even tournament legal! "Higher loft, longer distance…" — Robert L, Verified FlightPath Customer Say Goodbye To The Dreaded Hook (Or Slice) Nothing’s worse than that sinking feeling when you watch your beautiful shot turn into a hook or a slice. And you likely blame yourself for your grip or your followthrough. But what if you could reduce those gut-punching shots with a better tee? FlightPath’s patented tee is robotically tested and shown to decrease spin as well as decrease the axis spin RPMs. The result? A straighter shot, every time. Not only does this correct the shots that were your tee’s fault, it also helps you improve your game by helping you recognize when you’re making mistakes… and when you aren’t. If you’re using a wooden tee, there’s a good chance some of your crooked or short drives are due to your tee. That means you could be spending hours practicing something you don’t really need to improve… but you’ll never know until you start using a better tee like FlightPath! The Bonus: They’re Nearly Indestructible! If you play regularly, you know how frustrating it is to keep buying tees. Sure, the expense adds up… but more than that, it’s annoying to keep replacing tees that snap every few shots! That’s why FlightPath was engineered with advanced polymer technology, allowing each tee to last for an impressive 100+ hits. So you break fewer tees and can carry fewer tees around! FlightPath Already Has A Major Following These tees are so good they’ve garnered praise…even from the pros! "With my FlightPath tee I am aimed at keeping the ball in the grid. Cause if you’re not in the grid you can’t win." — Maurice Allen, 2018 Volvik World Long Drive Champion "Hole in one! Use my tee always, give them as gifts to friends…" — Robert L. "…I could tell from the first hit these are special. Each drive went long, high and straight…Innovative design and impressive product. Bravo!" — Barry L. Where Can You Get FlightPath? FlightPath tees are sold online wherever you can find quality golf merchandise. However, the best deals can be found only on the FlightPath website. Supplies Limited! CHECK AVAILABILITY Have a Question? See Our FAQs Are FlightPath golf tees USGA approved and legal to use in tournaments? Yes, our golf tees are legal to use in tournaments, they have been reviewed by the USGA and they were issued an official conformance letter. Where are the tees made? Flightpath Golf tees are 100% made and patented in the USA. Tees are manufactured in Cocoa Beach, Florida. What makes FlightPath tees so durable? FlightPath tees are made with high-quality polycarbonate material, which is the same material bulletproof glass is made out of. That’s why FlightPath tees are so much stronger and last so much longer than wooden tees! Do any professional golfers use the tee? Yes, plenty! For example, Maurice Allen used FlightPath in 2018 to win the World Long Drive Championship. We also have a lot of long drive professionals and collegiate athletes using our tees in tournaments, and you can expect to see it more and more often as word gets out! How do I balance the ball on the tee? Setting up a FlightPath tee may be slightly different depending on how you currently tee up. Instead of placing the tee into the ground first, place the ball on the tee before you put it in the ground. Finally, tilt it slightly back after putting it in the ground to optimize your drives. How long do FlightPath tees last? While there can be some variance depending on your playstyle, each individual FlightPath tee should last over 100 rounds. Compare that to an average of one wooden tee breaking every 3 holes (according to a Golf Magazine survey), and you’ll see that performance isn’t the only reason to choose FlightPath… the cost savings really add up! When can I expect my order? FAST! We ship all orders within 24-48 hours of receiving them! On average our product is delivered within 3-5 business days in the United States.
