  1. Sure it has. Stan White to Patrick Nix to Dameyune Craig worked pretty well.
  2. We've had at least two players who fairly well fit that description, no?
  3. Well, for starters, Cowart and Thomas were 5 star recruits who didn't pan out as expected. Fuqua is a 3 star prospect who may not get a spot in this class because of injury, not because we have players higher than him in contention. And yes, I was among those who were defending Tubs and Bowden to the end, despite retrospect telling me I shouldn't have. I didn't fight for Chizik, though, because the players weren't playing very hard for him. Finally, no, we are not playing for boy scout badges, but integrity means something to me, and it does to a great deal of Auburn people. That means you don't always do what is, on the surface, the "best" thing for the team, because there is a lot more that plays into it than what you or I or any of the fans can really grasp (such as team chemistry and leadership). You can play to win national championships without becoming the worst possible version of yourself in the process. At the end of the day, I'd rather be able to hold my head high knowing that my university is doing things the right way than to adopt the win-at-all-costs attitude that you have been advocating.
  4. Well, this kid hasn't even been visiting other programs for a backup scenario. I'd say that's pretty loyal, wouldn't you?
  5. I don't know that I would have a problem with grey shirting him, but I definitely don't want to just dump him after his loyalty in not even looking around at other schools. That's not something to take for granted.

  7. On a more positive note, the UAAAG starts at 5 this evening...
  8. I realize this is a recruiting thread, but really? Malzahn gets the job after having been offensive coordinator here, even has offensive success as head coach...but his offense needs to be put out to pasture? If he's not supposed to use what got him here, what is he supposed to use? I agree that it should be kept fresh by the OC (whomever it might be at the time), but I think the fundamentals of the Wing T are still pretty sound. You can't be predictable in play calling, no, and you can't run it on first down 17 straight times, either, but just scrapping the whole offense? Come on, man.
  9. You think he could pick up the reads and calls quickly enough to be center as a true freshman? I still think Kaleb Kim wins the job, Jalil redshirts, then starts as a sophomore after Kim leaves. Edit: However, I'll be happy with whomever the coaches deem best.
  10. I suppose maybe later in the season he could, but I rather doubt it (barring injuries, of course), and I REALLY doubt he'll begin the season as a starter. I still expect Kaleb Kim to step into that role next year. As far as I know, he's the only non-senior to play center for Auburn this season.
  11. It's not THAT big of a deal, except maybe for depth. Everyone who will start on the O-line next year is already on the team.
  12. And what, exactly, is it that you base your assumption upon? We haven't had playmakers at TE while Malzahn has been head coach here, and we brought in Cannella to provide a big guy to make possession type receptions. He has dropped more balls than he's been targeted with, so we've had to go without a versatile tight end all season. BTW, have you noticed the few passes that we've been working to Chandler Cox? Now imagine a tight end who can operate as a lead blocker OR a dynamic threat in the passing game. You don't think that's something Chip Lindsey wants? Really? Oh, wait, I forgot with whom I was communicating. Troll away, because that's all I've EVER seen you do on here.
  13. Good thing the recruits aren't in panic mode like the fans are. Still a lot of season to play, so we'll see how it all goes.
  14. I don't see him having any better chance to start over Stidham than he would to start over Francios. It's basically the same situation.
  15. I didn't really know the extent of the injury; I was at the AU game, so I didn't see the Bama game at all. Didn't even bother with highlights when I found out the score.
  16. If Francois doesn't come back from the injury well, he could very easily lose his job to a QB like Fields, I would think.
  17. Why would we wait until Fields' RS Soph year to start playing him? Even if Stidham doesn't go pro after this season, it seems more likely he WILL go pro after next season, which would put Fields in line to compete for the starting job as a RS Freshman....
  18. 185 lbs at 5'7, before even getting to a college strength and conditioning program...that's pretty danged stout. I would guess that with Momma Worm's statement about muscles running in the family, he could be up to 200 lbs pretty easily by the time he sees the field at Auburn, and that's plenty of size for running between the tackles. Much as I like the comparisons to Noel Devine, I liked the one to Barry Sanders even better, because Shaun strikes me as being that kind of quick. John Madden said you could put Sanders and another guy in a phone booth and it'd be 10 minutes before the other guy could touch him; if Shivers even approaches that kind of quickness (not to mention change of direction), he can be an "every down" back in the SEC without breaking a sweat.
  19. Pretty sure a player has to complete two years at JUCO before transferring to another school. If he plays one year at a division 1 school and then transfers to JUCO, he can transfer out after his first year at that JUCO, but he will still have completed two years of college.
  20. I think we're recruiting him more as an athlete, not as a RB.
  21. But Fields is being called a generational talent, and we've already got Malik Willis in the mix. I'm not saying I don't want Bo, nor am I saying we won't get both him and Fields, but considering there's only one spot for a QB to play during the game, it would make sense if Nix wanted to go play for his dad's old OC at FSU should Fields choose Auburn.
  22. I can totally see him being like the silky smooth super agent in the movie Draft Day, handling a prospective #1 QB recruit.
