  1. Yeah, I mean, just a quick hop on the Cessna. Who doesn't have one of those, right?
  2. Hey, they only average being 900 miles away per recruit...
  3. 8 hours? That meme has been around for years...
  4. Could it be cover from the pay site mods to deflect from the amount of interest Bruce does have in him? As much as that seems like grasping at straws, it wouldn't surprise me at this point...
  5. Not that I'm contradicting you or anything, but where did you pick up this information?
  6. Last I heard, I believe that's the way it was. Thanks for the link; I went looking in point guards and couldn't find him. Maybe that was just the Top247? I dunno.
  7. Not much on here, at least, just the mention of it. I'm not even sure if he's rated on recruiting sites as a basketball prospect.
  8. I had never seen that...had to have been done for the 09 Iron Bowl, I guess. To be fair, though, that's football, not basketball. Basketball can be just as crazy, but in a more compact area. I mean, there are no basketball venues that hold 100,000 people.
  9. Indeed, but for one, AU was out in front with dealing with NIL, if memory serves one of the first schools in the SEC to set up a program assisting athletes with their marketability. Moreover, just the ability to earn money on your own name, image, and likeness means that they don't have to be resigned to living like a poor college student (or breaking the rules) if they choose college. The mere potential to have income without screwing up eligibility and/or putting your future at risk is the game changer to which I was alluding.
  10. So...if Kelly commits, does that mean we missed on Clemons, or is it possible that we'll be taking 3 WRs?
  11. I really think the NIL is a game changer in a similar fashion to the way the G-League Ignite was. I wouldn't be surprised if Jabari Smith gets more while in college than an Ignite player even can make. At UAT, Bryce Young has already raked in more than a million in deals, and Ignite tops out at 500K...
  12. It greatly depends upon the situation. If it's a buzzer beater to win a game that you should have won more handily, then it's tense with concern from the home crowd, with a breath of relief when the winning shot goes in. If it's a game that doesn't mean much of anything, then there is jubilation, but it's more of a "heck yeah, that was fun...now let's get outta here," kind of thing. But if it's a big game, either a rivalry or a championship game, as I would imagine it would have to be for your book, it's awe inspiring. The crowd goes absolutely nuts, and the player who made the three either gets dogpiled or lifted up on shoulders by his teammates. Might be a good effect to have the coach be completely even and steady the whole way through the book until that last shot, when he cannot help but throw his hands up in victory (or whatever...that's just the kind of thing I like as a reader). With regard to how rare it is, it's not exactly common. Most of the time, basketball games don't come down to the last shot, and even when they do, more often than not, that shot is missed. So a game winning, buzzer beating 3-pointer, especially if you put the hero in a position where he has to adjust at the last second to make the shot over outstretched fingertips, is incredibly impressive. It is, quite literally, the epitome of big time clutch. This situation ranks up there with hitting a walk off three run home run in baseball. Not quite on the same level of rarity as a Hail Mary at the end of a football game, but it's a similar kind of feeling. Hope that helps!
  13. I'm not sure how to embed a tweet here, but Tre Donaldson, the S/PG we've been recruiting who is announcing on the same day as Cruz, tweeted that big news was coming from two of them on the same day...maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that kinda sounds like it might be a good day for us with both of them.
  14. I simply cannot see that as being the case...here's hoping we reel in both of those guys.
  15. He could probably gain access one way or the other through the AD. I don't know any kind of specifics, and maybe I'm wrong about this, but I would imagine sideline passes might be given, or maybe he'd be let into the student section, since the amount in there can be more variable...or something to give him access to the game. I mean, if a top prospect wants to come to Auburn to watch the game, it makes sense to accommodate him as much as (legally) possible.
  16. Ah, yes, I can see that. His actual running style isn't as close to Mason's, but his ability to be the Swiss Army Knife for the team absolutely is.
  17. Is Marietta more where the professional baseball players live? Seems I remember hearing that a lot of the Braves live there. My brother used to live in Roswell (Dunwoody, too, but I didn't visit him until after he'd moved from there), and I dated a girl from Conyers for a long time, but I've never really kept up with exactly where around the ATL prospects were coming from.
  18. Cam came from somewhere in Atlanta's metropolitan area, but I really don't know where inside of that footprint he was from. But seriously, there is a boatload of talent in Atlanta. Of course, population density does matter with these kinds of things, and thus it isn't really so surprising, but...
  19. ...I thought Boone said, "Just like Novocain: give it time, always works." Not that that matters at all, but that's the way I always heard it in my head.
  20. Meh, this is just comparing running styles, not off-field personalities. Dyer was an exceptional football player, he just didn't have the best attitude towards off-field discipline. I don't think that's an issue with Alston.
  21. To be fair, Chizik's staff was heavy on guys whose calling card was far more about recruiting than development. Harsin's staff has some solid recruiters, but the feeling is that they are better on-field coaches than their counterparts in Chizik's staff, at least for the most part.
  22. Now that you mention it, his running style does kinda remind me of Dyer's. Not sure what you mean about what was asked of him, though.
  23. I don't know about specific spots around Atlanta, but I know there's a TON of talent in Atlanta metro. I would imagine that a pipeline to any of the area powerhouses would be a great thing. Would be great to have another school supplying us players like Dillard in Florida did back in the day.
  24. Not mine to make that statement, but we're there buddy. He's coming to Auburn.
