Signs of life.

Green makes a great steal and then loses the ball out of bounds. Unbelievable.

We've got no answer for Sanogo down inside.

That was not a foul on Jabari, all ball

Everyone gasped when A&M gave Jimbo a 10yr deal, now Tucker has one on the table and Franklin has a signed deal. Is this going to be the new expectation for a University to show their coach they love him?
Sexton is trying to retire early it seems.

Penn State coach James Franklin has signed a 10-year, $75 million guaranteed extension to stay with the Nittany Lions long term through the 2031 season, the program announced Tuesday. Franklin has led Penn State to a 67-32 record in eight seasons, including a 2016 Big Ten championship, just the second outright Big Ten title for the team since the Nittany Lions joined the league in 1993.
Would we consider this to be sustained success at Auburn? His record isn't bad by any means, other than last year. This year is a little under performing.
I think he's done a good job of making Penn State respectable again and the record looks good. I'de reward him with an extension and raise but it's the 10 year part that I wouldn't give him. 4or 5 years? Cool, but not 10. It's just human nature to relax and turn the intensity down when you and your family are financially secure regardless of product on the field. It's just human nature.

Just once before I die I would love to see Auburn beat them like a red headed step child with freckles.
That's gonna be a tough ticket. 2017 game had one of the wider margin of victory for Auburn at 12 points, 26-14, thank you CGM but other than that I don't recall in my 54 trips around the sun where Auburn just absolutely layed the wood to them so much that we cleared the bench and everyone got to play in the game. It would be enjoyable though.

There’s a factor here that I just found out about… Jimmy Sexton
Oh my God... lol, they (PSU and Mich St.) have been flamboozled by quiet possibly the best agent out there. How many times did he stick it to Auburn? Tuberville, Malzahn etc. Btw, he's also Jimbo Fisher's agent. All got ridiculous money.

How?
Between Tucker and Franklin they got zero nattys and zero appearances in the playoffs and they’re getting Nick Saban money?!? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

I just went and looked at all of our classes from 2013 onwards, and I would encourage all of you to do the same. What I took away was that we had a horrendous track record with our 5 stars. Derrick Brown probably the only one he brought in that lived up. Pappoe and Nix are solid but probably not as great as expected coming in.
Another big takeaway is the amount of guys who either left, never played, busted, or were not starters. Some of Gus's best players were probably some of his lower rated signees (Daniel Thomas, etc). This staff needs to do a better job of evaluating, retaining, and developing guys or they won't last either. They need to pull talent in, but it doesn't matter if they leave or bust like under Gus
Another enlightening read is a Recruiting post by Paladin on the Transfer Portal (2021) thread. The portal is a game changer.

Since 2001, Auburn has only really been destroyed twice at home by Alabama. 2001 and 2011. Guess we’re due for the 10 year butt whooping
I’ve seen nothing from the players or coaches thus far this year that would suggest otherwise.

Shockingly competitive 1st half only to see it crumble away coming out of the half.

Impressive. One thing we do need to keep in mind about whoever is the DC or OC at Auburn is are they going to develop the players for the next level also, specifically WR's and QB's, so they're prepared for the NFL. I'm guessing some offenses/coaches maybe do that better than others.. our last one comes to mind.

It wasn’t but he has a proven track record of being a great recruiter and DC. People will make the HC comparison to CDM but they’re wrong.
Yea, I simply meant we wouldn't have to worry about him having one foot out the door looking for his next HC job because that's not gonna happen, he's a great DC though.

Would kill for Will Muschamp
I could see this and I don't foresee him being a HC anytime soon, if ever. Idk what his HC combined record is at UF and SC but it can't be good.

I know.. what does even mean? Sweater vest? No cussing? The gosh golly good feeling knowing at least we don't cheat while we slowly morph into Vanderbilt??

How about not hiring fired head coaches as assistants who really have one foot out the door looking for their next HC job; and get up and coming assistant talent that is hungry and wants to prove themselves.
This is the way.

I think more than one thing can be true. Gus would have gotten us to a better record than the one we will have at year's end. That said, we did need some fresh air in the building. Harsin just seems like a pretender in a lot of ways. He talks a good game, but is there real substance behind the words? It is hard to tell at this point.
I can’t disagree on the Harsin part at this point as I’m sensing some of the same. Time will tell over the next two years.

Not too excited for Auburn to be playing in a 6-6 worthy bowl. These bowls are like the Little League participation trophies, everybody seems to get one. I guess it's a chance to end the season with a win though so that's a positive for the players.
I’m guessing at this point it’s not about the non-traveling fans, it’s about the players, especially returning ones, their families and traveling supporters. Not exactly what they had envisioned but it’s something to them I would assume.

that is so dumb when you have a 6’7 QB who can just fall over the LOS
That's what I'm talking about. Why overcomplicate things when he didn't have to. Just line up under center and let your super-sized QB push the pile. smh

The RPO era has slowed down linebacker play. The minute you send your mike on a blitz you might as well expect the slant behind him against a lot of teams.
Honest question from a self proclaimed schemes novice but would it make sense to fake like it’s going to be a blitz but drop in coverage instead or look like we’re going to be in zone but instead switch to man at the snap?

Wow, imagine that. Fans of BoiseSt have some choice opinions on the HC that left them at the alter to move up in the college football landscape. So unexpected... not.
